Director’s Welcome

Hi, I’m Shelley, I started working as an accountant in 2003 and I qualified with the ICAEW in 2007. I set up my own practice in 2013 where I have been acting for a small number of clients. The reason for setting up my own practice is so that I can have flexibility which is extremely beneficial when you have 2 small children!

What I can do for you

I can help you with your bookkeeping through to preparing your accounts and filing your personal tax return. I can take your accounting records in whatever format you have (Excel spreadsheets, computer accounting package, even a carrier bag of receipts!) and prepare your accounts whether they be soletrader, partnership or limited company accounts.

I can also help with tax returns; corporation tax returns based on the company accounts or self assessment returns for the individual. My aim is to explain your accounts and tax return into language that you can understand and not accountancy jargon!

Career History

I worked at a small practice based in Newbury from 2003-2007 where I qualified as a Chartered accountant in 2007. I worked with a wide variety of clients in different industries and sectors. During that time my work consisted of preparation of statutory accounts, vat returns, management accounts, statutory audit work, specialised audit work, corporation tax computations and book-keeping.

From 2007-2009 I worked for a large company in Newbury. I was employed as their financial accountant where I got to see first-hand how a company’s finance department worked. During my time I prepared the annual statutory accounts, the corporation tax returns for the UK company, and also the international tax computations for the overseas subsidiaries. I also prepared the VAT return and the PSA calculation.

From 2009 to 2015 I worked for a small practice in Caversham where I managed the outsourcing department. I managed my own portfolio of clients where I was the main point of contact from the initial quote to preparing the bills at the end of the month. For a handful of clients I prepared management accounts which can involve setting up and approving bank payments, preparing and filing VAT returns, assistance with preparing budgets. I also prepared their statutory annual accounts and tax returns and liaise with auditors if necessary. I also looked after some clients where we just prepared their annual accounts, corporation tax returns and personal tax returns. During this time I also had the payroll accountant report into me which required me to review the payrolls, answer any queries and provide cover for any holidays or sickness.

Due to my varied experience this has enabled me to create my own accountancy practice and therefore have the skill-set to offer you the services that you require in order to manage your business.
